Colombia (ISO-Code: CO) is located in the northwest of South America and borders Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador, with coastlines on the Pacific and Caribbean. Politically, the country is a presidential republic with a federal structure organized into Departments. The climate varies significantly from tropical along the coasts to temperate in the Andean regions and dry in desert areas, characterized by strong regional differences.
