The code OCV (ICAO SKOC) belongs to Aguas Claras, a state-run public airfield six kilometres north of Ocaña in Colombia's Norte de Santander department. At about 1,173 metres above sea level and with a runway of roughly 1,100 metres, it is limited to turboprop operations; SATENA links it to Cúcuta and Medellín–Olaya Herrera. No cargo terminal and no air freight customs post are in place, so only small belly-cargo consignments move here. Shippers with genuine air cargo requirements use Cúcuta Camilo Daza (CUC), a little over 200 road kilometres away through the mountains, or Bucaramanga Palonegro (BGA). Colombia's international air freight is concentrated at Bogotá El Dorado (BOG), by far the country's largest cargo gateway. Agricultural produce from the Catatumbo area — onions and coffee in particular — therefore reaches the aircraft only after several hours of trucking, which has to be factored into any cool-chain planning.
