SAI Port Society runs the only commercial marine terminal on San Andrés Island (UN/LOCODE COADZ), Colombia's Caribbean free-port destination, handling containers and general cargo across a 420-metre quay with six berths and an authorised draught of 7 metres. A separate facility, Puerto Arenal, supplies the island's fuel: in 2024 it moved roughly 82,000 tonnes of MDO, Jet A-1, gasoline and diesel for power generation, the airport, fishing fleets and hotels. Cartagena, roughly 750 km away on the Colombian mainland, functions as the nearest major container gateway from which goods are trans-shipped to the island. In 2025 Colombia's national infrastructure agency ANI carried out a technical inspection of Puerto Arenal, signalling possible upgrades ahead.
