NGO Airport (Chubu Centrair International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

The name 'Centrair' compresses 'Central Japan International Airport' — and central is exactly what this island airport off Tokoname is for Japan's manufacturing belt. Opened in 2005 in Ise Bay, Chubu Centrair (IATA: NGO) handled around 260,000 tonnes of freight and mail in 2022, with pre-pandemic peaks approaching 400,000 tonnes. Its most distinctive traffic is aerospace: Boeing's outsized Dreamlifter freighters have called here since 2007, flying 787 wings and fuselage sections built around Nagoya to final assembly in the United States — Japanese suppliers account for roughly a third of the aircraft's structure. Nippon Cargo Airlines operates its own cargo facility, complemented by belly capacity and freighter links across Asia and North America. The catchment area is the Chukyo industrial region, home to Japan's automotive and aerospace clusters. Access is quick: Meitetsu trains reach Nagoya in about 28 minutes, expressways connect via the Chita peninsula, and the Port of Nagoya — one of Japan's biggest export ports — keeps sea-air combinations short. Aviation fans get a bonus: the Flight of Dreams centre displays the very first Boeing 787 ever built.
