General Cargo
General cargo in the lower deck of the passenger fleet. Service quality is governed by the Rapid 988 class system with six levels from Rapid Absolute to Execution; if the promised connection time is missed, the carrier refunds the difference to the lower class.
Asiana Cargo is the freight division of Asiana Airlines Inc., based in Seoul. Since December 2024 the company has been majority-owned by Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. and therefore belongs to the Hanjin Group. Its operating model changed fundamentally in 2025: on 1 August 2025 Air Incheon took over the entire freighter business, including ten Boeing 747 freighters, one Boeing 767F and around 800 employees; the buyer has traded as AIRZETA ever since. Asiana Cargo now markets only bellyhold capacity on its own passenger fleet and no longer operates any dedicated freighters. According to the carrier (retrieved 14 September 2026, published without a reference date), the fleet comprises 67 passenger aircraft: six Airbus A380-800, 15 Airbus A350-900, 14 Airbus A330-300, eight Boeing 777-200ER, 13 Airbus A321neo and eleven Airbus A321-200. ECS Group states that an A350-900 offers up to 18 tonnes of cargo capacity. The hub is Incheon (ICN), where Asiana runs its own cargo terminal, which by its own account handles roughly 700,000 tonnes a year and also serves other airlines. Since 1 August 2025 ECS Group has been the exclusive GSSA for the international bellyhold business at 33 locations in nine countries. In 2024 Asiana carried around 158,000 tonnes of bellyhold cargo on international passenger flights. For forwarders: IATA designator OZ, ICAO designator AAR, callsign ASIANA, AWB prefix 988. The product umbrella is called Rapid 988 and distinguishes six service classes with a refund of the rate difference if the promised connection time is missed. Alongside it sit General Cargo, RFS and Sea & Air, Rapid Charter, the special cargo line Rapid FAITH, the temperature-controlled product Cool+ and the priority service APS. Decisive for planning: according to consistent trade media reports, Asiana Airlines will be merged into Korean Air on 17 December 2026 and dissolved as a company. How prefix 988 will be handled afterwards is not documented in primary sources.
