CTU Airport (Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Laptops and microchips from Foxconn and Intel plants make Chengdu one of the world's largest electronics-manufacturing centres, feeding a steady flow of high-value goods into air cargo. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU), at 1,625 feet, handled about 735,576 tonnes of freight in 2024 and remains a substantial cargo base despite its pivot to domestic traffic. Since the city's second hub, Chengdu Tianfu (TFU), opened in 2021 and absorbed international and most cargo routes from 2023, Shuangliu has pursued a 'passenger-and-cargo' (客货并举) strategy, lifting first-quarter 2025 freight by 24.91 percent. Together, Chengdu's two airports moved roughly 1.17 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, up 13.9 percent year on year. For large international freight, CTU increasingly points to Tianfu, while it concentrates on domestic flows. Expressways and rail tie both airports into the manufacturing belt of Sichuan province. The 'one city, two airports' model gives forwarders shorter transit times and a wider spread of cargo services across the two sites.
