ALA Airport (Almaty International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Silk Way West Airlines, Turkish Cargo, CAL Cargo, Kalitta Air, Atlas Air and DHL all serve Almaty, the carrier line-up that makes ALA the busiest freight station in Kazakhstan. The airport concentrates around 68 percent of the country's air cargo and moves well over 100,000 tonnes a year, spanning general, valuable, dangerous and temperature-controlled goods. Passenger services run alongside, though freight defines the airport's role in the Central Asian market. Since 16 June 2026 a weekly Emirates SkyCargo Boeing 777 freighter has also linked Dubai with Almaty, adding more than 100 tonnes of weekly capacity for electronics, perishables and machinery parts. The cargo terminal, operated by TAV, handles customs clearance, bonded storage and specialised consignments. By road it links to the Khorgos dry port and the special economic zone on the Chinese frontier, while rail along the Trans-Caspian corridor feeds containerised flows. A recent My Freighter rotation connecting Shanghai, Tashkent, Almaty and Maastricht underlines its place on the Asia-Europe lane. For forwarders, ALA functions as the natural transfer point between Belt-and-Road rail and onward air freight.
