American Airlines Cargo is the cargo division of American Airlines, Inc., headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. The airline belongs to the publicly listed American Airlines Group Inc. The cargo division does not hold an air operator certificate of its own: all flights are operated by American Airlines, Inc. itself, so brand and operator are one and the same. The operating model is pure belly cargo. American Airlines Cargo markets the cargo capacity of the passenger fleet and operates no dedicated freighters; the carrier's fleet page refers exclusively to the passenger fleet on aa.com and gives no dated inventory. Frachtportal therefore deliberately records no fleet figures. The network rests on nine hubs: Charlotte (CLT), Chicago O'Hare (ORD), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK and LGA), Philadelphia (PHL), Phoenix (PHX) and Washington Reagan National (DCA). DFW is the largest hub, Miami the gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, Philadelphia the carrier's principal transatlantic gateway. The codes are IATA AA, ICAO AAL and AWB prefix 001. The product portfolio covers general and express freight (ConfirmedFS and ExpediteFS), temperature-controlled and pharmaceutical shipments (ExpediteTC), perishables, live animals (American PetEmbark), high value cargo, human remains (TLC), dangerous goods, small parcels under Priority Parcel Service, as well as mail and e-commerce. Important for forwarders: shipments of 16 ounces and above are accepted only from known shippers or TSA-approved indirect air carriers, and a Precise Account Locator (PAL) is required. The stations JFK, SJU, DFW, PHL, MIA and the headquarters hold IATA CEIV Pharma certification. Booking, eAWB and shipment tracking run through aacargo.com.
