CLT Airport (Charlotte Douglas International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

205,700 tons of air cargo crossed Charlotte Douglas (IATA: CLT, ICAO: KCLT) in 2024 — up 7.3 percent — and the first seven months of 2025 added another 14.1 percent. The surprise leader is Amazon Air, which moved roughly 60,000 tons in FY2025 on more than 40 weekly flights, ahead of UPS and FedEx at 35,000 to 40,000 tons each; American Airlines Cargo contributed about 21,000 tons of belly capacity across its second-largest hub. Pharmaceuticals, perishables and time-critical e-commerce dominate the mix. Ground connectivity stands out: Norfolk Southern's Charlotte Regional Intermodal Facility sits on airport property, Interstates 85 and 77 meet nearby, and Foreign-Trade Zone 57 covers the region. Charlotte's status as the second-largest US banking centre after New York feeds steady flows of high-value express traffic. With four parallel runways, CLT ranks among the world's busiest airports by aircraft movements. For widebody freighter lift, Atlanta (IATA: ATL) remains the closest heavyweight; within North Carolina, the FedEx hub at Greensboro (IATA: GSO) complements CLT.
