Capital: Reykjavik
Iceland (ISO code: IS) lies in the North Atlantic between Greenland and Norway and is a geologically active volcanic island. Politically it is a parliamentary republic with stable democratic institutions and strong rule of law. The climate is subarctic to cool-temperate, with mild coastal areas, cool summers, cold winters and frequent wind. Economically, fisheries, aluminium production, renewable energy and increasingly tourism play central roles. Foreign trade is decisive: exports consist mainly of fish products, aluminium and energy, while Iceland depends on imports for food, fuel and industrial goods. Strategically located ports such as Reykjavik secure the transit and logistics function for North Atlantic trade. The national currency is the Icelandic krona (ISK). Iceland benefits from its geographic position between Europe and North America as a hub for maritime and air transport. Infrastructure, renewable energy and politically stable conditions strengthen the economic and logistical importance of the country.
