EZE Airport (Minister Pistarini International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Around 85 percent of Argentina's international air passengers pass through Ministro Pistarini (IATA: EZE, ICAO: SAEZ), and the same gravitational pull applies to freight: the airport handled roughly 229,260 tonnes of cargo in 2024, far ahead of anywhere else in the country. Set about 22 kilometres south-west of Buenos Aires, it hosts Terminal de Cargas Argentina (TCA), the principal air-cargo complex, operated by Aeropuertos Argentina, whose bonded warehouses clear shipments through the Argentine customs authority (Aduana) for both import and export. Cargo carriers active at EZE include LATAM Cargo, American Airlines Cargo, United Cargo, IAG Cargo and Lufthansa Cargo, with ground handling by operators such as Swissport, while a large share of tonnage travels as belly capacity on long-haul services by Aerolíneas Argentinas, Iberia, Air France, KLM, Emirates and Turkish Airlines. Exports lean heavily on perishables — chilled beef, fish, blueberries and other fresh produce — alongside pharmaceuticals, so cold-chain integrity and turnaround speed matter more than raw lift. Imports cover electronics, machinery parts and industrial goods; Argentine clearance is document-heavy, and import licences plus currency rules are worth settling before booking. The Autopista Ricchieri links the terminals directly to the capital, and the Port of Buenos Aires lies about 40 kilometres away, close enough to support sea-air combinations. Alternatives are thin: Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) mainly covers domestic flows, while Córdoba (COR) and Montevideo (MVD) serve as regional fallbacks. Because nearly all of Argentina's intercontinental airfreight funnels through this single site, EZE is effectively unavoidable for forwarders planning long-haul shipments.
