JED Airport (King Abdulaziz International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Around 577,000 tonnes — that was Saudia Cargo's record system-wide volume in 2024, up 27 percent year on year, and King Abdulaziz International (JED) is the operation's home base. The carrier runs roughly ten freighters to some 90 destinations, while its Jeddah cargo village, expanded in 2022, is rated at about 600,000 tonnes of annual capacity. Qatar Airways Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo, Air France Cargo and Ethiopian Cargo also serve the field, placing JED among the Gulf's leading freight airports. Sitting on the Red Sea beside the city of Jeddah and the Jeddah Islamic Port, the airport supports sea-air flows and feeds the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. Customs clearance runs through Saudi Arabia's ZATCA authority, with bonded warehousing and nearby logistics zones underpinning transshipment and re-export. Perishables, pharmaceuticals and e-commerce rank among the busiest cargo segments. JED set a national record in 2025 with 53.4 million passengers, and the planned expansion of Terminal 1 to as much as 80 million passengers a year, alongside a new Hajj and Umrah terminal for low-cost and charter traffic, should also lift belly-cargo capacity over the medium term. For shippers serving the western Kingdom, JED is the primary air-freight reference point.
