Anyone who needs to drive a truck through Basel in September should plan for extra time. On the A2 eastern bypass, a new, low-noise road surface will be installed over five weekends.
The affected area includes the section at the Bäumlihof bridge and the Schwarzwald tunnel. The A2 will mostly remain passable, but in some sections only one lane per direction will be available. It doesn't take much for traffic to back up.
Work will take place on the following weekends:

During the first weekend, the on-ramps at Zürcher Strasse and Wettstein Allee toward Germany and France are closed. The on-ramp at Riehen Strasse toward Switzerland is also closed. The off-ramp at Wettstein Allee toward Switzerland cannot be used.
I would pay the most attention during the third weekend. From September 18 to 21, the A2 at the Wiese junction is interrupted in both directions. Traffic to and from France can remain on the motorway. Toward Germany, traffic is diverted through the Basel city area.
As a local office assistant, I would say: don't calculate tight schedules for routes. Before departure, check the ASTRA website once more and clearly explain the access route to the driver. Simply following the navigation system may not work in this case.
