Despite sitting beside one of Patagonia's productive fishing ports, Puerto Deseado Airport (PUD) handles almost no scheduled traffic. The town's economy runs on langoustine, squid and hake, yet those exports leave by road and sea rather than by air. For genuine air-freight needs, shippers turn to Comodoro Rivadavia (CRD) further north or to Buenos Aires. The field functions chiefly for general aviation and occasional charters in Santa Cruz province. For forwarders, it carries no regular cargo role.
