Opened in 2007 at Cabatuan, some 20 kilometres north-west of Iloilo City on Panay island, it replaced the inner-city Mandurriao field and serves all of Western Visayas. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has been refurbishing the passenger terminal for about PHP 190 million, raising pre-departure capacity from 727 to 1,082 passengers, with completion scheduled for mid-2026. Customs formalities are handled by the Philippine Bureau of Customs, which covers both the airport and the seaport.
