BHI Airport (Comandante Espora Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Bahía Blanca moves its freight by ship and rail rather than by air: Comandante Espora (BHI/SAZB) is a naval air station with a civil passenger terminal and no cargo infrastructure. The field handled about 238,900 passengers and 3,962 aircraft movements in 2024, down some 16 per cent year on year, and scheduled service is now essentially the Buenos Aires link flown by Aerolíneas Argentinas, with state carrier LADE appearing only irregularly. No dedicated freight terminal, freighter handling or air-cargo customs post is documented here; goods travel at most as belly load. Regional tonnage instead runs through the deep-water port of Bahía Blanca at Ingeniero White, roughly ten kilometres west, an outlet for grain, fertiliser, petrochemicals and bulk cargo, connected inland by Ruta Nacional 3 and the freight rail network. Air freight for the south of Buenos Aires province is consolidated at Buenos Aires-Ezeiza (EZE), about 650 road kilometres northeast, and trucked in by road feeder service; Neuquén (NQN) is the alternative regional point towards Patagonia. For forwarders, BHI is a passenger and military field, not bookable air cargo capacity.
