HUU Airport (Alferez Fap David Figueroa Fernandini Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Set in a central Peruvian valley known for its mild climate and the ancient Kotosh temple, Huánuco relies on HUU (ICAO SPNC) for regional links, chiefly to Lima, with roughly 30 flights a week. The airport lies about 5 km from the city at some 1,860 m (6,070 ft) elevation and is operated by the state company CORPAC S.A.; its asphalt runway measures 2,500 by 30 m and the passenger building is a modest 160 m² with two check-in counters. There is no cargo terminal, so airborne goods travel purely as belly freight on regional aircraft, while larger or dutiable consignments are channelled through Lima's Jorge Chávez International (LIM), roughly 380 road kilometres away on the Carretera Central — a mountain route that regularly takes eight hours or more. A modernisation worth about PEN 20 million has been announced, expanding the terminal from 642 to around 1,000 m² and rebuilding the control tower. For traffic towards the Amazon basin, Pucallpa (PCL) is the practical alternative; for anything intercontinental, Lima remains the address.
