YQB Airport (Quebec Jean Lesage International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

A 5,600 square metre cargo centre, part-funded with CAD 12.5 million from Canada's National Trade Corridors Fund, marks the freight ambition of Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB/CYQB) — measured against Montréal, though, the site remains a regional gateway rather than a freight hub. Part of the building is explicitly reserved for regional carriers serving remote communities in northern Québec, and for those routings YQB genuinely is the natural starting point. Most other shipments travel as belly cargo on passenger aircraft; scheduled freighter operations by international cargo airlines are not documented here. The airport handles general cargo, perishables and higher-value consignments, with clearance following Canadian procedure through the Canada Border Services Agency. The parallel NICE expansion programme is enlarging baggage and cargo areas, laying the groundwork for larger volumes. For intercontinental air freight the route almost always runs through the Montréal region: Montréal-Mirabel (YMX) is Québec's actual freighter airport and Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) offers the densest scheduled network and therefore the most belly capacity, both around 250 road kilometres away and a few hours by truck. Exporters around Québec City therefore usually budget for a road feeder leg to Montréal rather than a direct departure from YQB.
