BSB Airport (Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Some 54,956 tonnes of air cargo passed through Brasília's Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport (BSB/SBBR) in 2025, comfortably above the cargo terminal's nominal 40,000-tonne annual capacity. Health products, medicines and pharmaceutical inputs account for more than 80 percent of that volume, making BSB Brazil's most pharma-focused freight point. Concessionaire Inframerica has run the airport since 2012 and lifted storage capacity more than tenfold; the Terminal de Cargas offers over 1,000 pallet positions, temperature-controlled chambers meeting health authority ANVISA standards, and areas for dangerous goods, agricultural inputs, veterinary products and food. LATAM Cargo Brasil treats Brasília as its second Brazilian base alongside São Paulo and has opened its own cargo terminal on site; its Miami–Brasília freighter service cuts transit for pharmaceuticals, electronics and general cargo from the United States to the Central-West from three days to one. In 2025 Amazon additionally turned Brasília into an air hub for parcel distribution, speeding deliveries across nine states in the Central-West and North. All shipments pass X-ray screening at the cargo terminals before departure under Brazilian civil aviation security rules. At roughly 1,066 m elevation, BSB ranks among the country's highest major airports, which affects payload planning for full freighters. Bulk commodities still leave the region by sea, while Guarulhos (GRU) and Viracopos (VCP) remain the obvious alternatives for intercontinental volume freight.
