FOR Airport (Pinto Martins International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

A 3,077-square-metre export warehouse, 420 square metres of cold storage and around 900 vertical storage positions give Fortaleza–Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR/SBFZ) the infrastructure behind the roughly 49,800 tonnes it handled in 2025, a gain of about 32 percent. Perishable export acceptance runs 24 hours a day, which matters for a catchment built on melons, cashews and tropical fruit from the state of Ceará. Swissport has operated a modern cargo warehouse here since 2018, handling freight for several carriers. Volumes come partly from belly capacity on long-haul services to Europe and partly from northeastern Brazil's agricultural exporters, whose peaks follow the harvest calendar. Alongside produce, the terminal moves footwear, leather goods, textiles, metalworking inputs, electronics, tools, machinery and pharmaceuticals. Clearance goes through Brazil's Receita Federal using the Siscomex platform, and phytosanitary certificates and origin documents should accompany goods on delivery rather than follow them, since corrections put the cold chain at risk. The deep-water port of Pecém with its export processing zone lies about 60 kilometres west and absorbs volume shipments, leaving the airport the time-critical consignments. For more freighter capacity, Recife (REC) is roughly 800 road kilometres to the south-east, Natal (NAT) about 530 kilometres, and São Paulo–Guarulhos (GRU) remains the reference for long-haul freighter services.
