VIX Airport (Eurico de Aguiar Salles Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

The economy around Vitória, capital of Espírito Santo, rests on steel, iron-ore pellets, marble, granite and coffee. Most of that tonnage leaves by sea through the adjacent port of Tubarão, one of the world's largest iron-ore terminals, rather than through Eurico de Aguiar Salles Airport. The airport, rebuilt with a new passenger and cargo complex in 2018, is operated by Zurich Airport Brasil, with the freight terminal run by PACLOG. Air shipments concentrate on higher-value and time-critical goods such as industrial components, spare parts and perishables, leaving bulk commodities to the maritime route. Scheduled bellyhold capacity is provided by GOL, LATAM, Azul and Avianca Cargo on their passenger routes; no dedicated freighter is based at the airport. Air and sea therefore complement each other here rather than compete. Customs clearance is handled on site. For forwarders, Vitória is a regional cargo point with a clear division of labour between air and sea freight, air cargo moving exclusively as belly capacity.
