Inaugurated in 1933 and long the busiest field in Minas Gerais, Pampulha (PLU) sits just nine kilometres from downtown Belo Horizonte beside Oscar Niemeyer's celebrated modernist lakeside ensemble. When long-haul services shifted to Confins International (CNF/SBCF) in 2005, Pampulha refocused on regional flights, executive aviation and helicopter and business-jet maintenance. It retains cargo ramps on the general-aviation apron but is not a scheduled-freight gateway in its own right. The airport is run by the Motiva group (formerly CCR). Air-cargo shipments for the Belo Horizonte area are consolidated at Confins, linked to the city by expressway.
