Despite its medium-airport label, Nasosnaya is a military air base of the Azerbaijani Air Force near Sumqayit, not a commercial freight station. No scheduled airlines or cargo operators serve the field, and there are no public handling facilities or customs services for shippers. Air freight destined for the Sumqayit industrial belt — a major chemical and petrochemical zone — is instead handled at Heydar Aliyev International in Baku (GYD), some 40 kilometres south. That hub anchors Azerbaijan's air cargo through Silk Way West Airlines. Forwarders can disregard Nasosnaya for commercial planning.
