What sets Varginha apart is infrastructure rather than runway size. Beside the 2,100-metre strip sits the Porto Seco Sul de Minas, a bonded inland customs depot (EADI) that clears and consolidates freight away from the coast. Through the adjoining air-cargo terminal, consignments — above all the coffee for which southern Minas Gerais is famous — are gathered and prepared for export before moving on to the international gateways at Confins (CNF) and Guarulhos. Azul operates scheduled services here. The result is less a freighter base than a customs-cleared collection point for the region's exporters. For forwarders, the draw is the mix of dry port, customs clearance and a short road haul to the major ports of Santos and Rio.
