The airport carries the name of Major Brigadeiro Doorgal Borges but no IATA code — a fair signal of its role. Set in the Mantiqueira highlands of Minas Gerais, Barbacena's field serves general aviation and runs no scheduled freight service. Commercial air cargo for the area is handled at Belo Horizonte/Confins (CNF), roughly 130 kilometres to the north. Barbacena is known less for logistics than for its roses — the self-styled 'City of Roses' of Minas. For forwarders it is honestly a road feeder toward Confins rather than an air-freight point.
