Unlike the deep-water gateways that move Rio Grande do Sul's harvest, Lauro Kurtz Airport (PFB) at Passo Fundo is a purely regional passenger field. It sits at the centre of a major soybean, wheat and maize belt in the state's north, yet none of that tonnage flies. Scheduled services run mainly to Porto Alegre, while grain exports travel by truck and rail to the Rio Grande seaport. Airfreight is limited to belly capacity, with urgent shipments consolidated at the Porto Alegre (POA) cargo hub. Forwarders should treat PFB as a feeder with no standalone freight role.
