Coronel Horácio de Mattos Airport (LEC / SBLE) near Lençóis is the air gateway to the Chapada Diamantina national park in the Bahian interior, used mainly by tourism with intermittent regional links to Salvador. It has no cargo terminal, cold chain or customs post, so shipments are limited to small volumes of belly cargo. Air freight for the region is handled at Salvador International (SSA) some four hundred road kilometres east, with trucking in on the BR-242 highway.
