CAC Airport (Coronel Adalberto Mendes da Silva Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

More than 408,000 passengers passed through Coronel Adalberto Mendes da Silva Airport (IATA: CAC, ICAO: SBCA) in 2024, a record for the airport serving Cascavel in western Paraná — and still essentially no freight. The field lies about 6 km from the city centre, with a 1,780-metre runway and a 6,018 m² passenger terminal, served by Azul, GOL and LATAM. There is no cargo terminal, so air freight travels only as belly cargo on scheduled flights and consolidates at Curitiba (CWB) or São Paulo-Guarulhos (GRU). Infraero has led the upgrade programme since 2021, targeting a runway extension to 2,600 metres, construction of a cargo terminal, international status and eventual concession to a private operator; some BRL 60 million is earmarked for runway and terminal work, and a demand study concluded that air cargo at the site would be viable. None of this is built yet, which leaves the region's soybean, maize and poultry exports moving by truck to the seaport of Paranaguá roughly 600 km east, or via Foz do Iguaçu towards the Mercosur border. Until the works complete, CAC is a feeder point with prospects rather than a cargo gateway.
