The Comandante Marilda Zaiden de Mesquita strip at Capão do Leão lies on the coastal plain of Rio Grande do Sul just south of Pelotas and is a small field with no IATA or ICAO code, no scheduled service and no cargo handling. Private, training and agricultural flying use it; there is no handling, no warehousing and no customs post, so it has no freight relevance. Air cargo for the region moves through neighbouring Pelotas Airport (PET) or Porto Alegre Salgado Filho (POA), the state's freight gateway, with the BR-116 highway as the main road axis.
