Paraguay's air cargo runs almost entirely through two airports, and Juan de Ayolas National Airport (AYO/SGAY) is not one of them. Located in Misiones Department close to the binational Yacyretá hydroelectric complex, it handles government, charter and general aviation traffic rather than scheduled or freighter services. Shippers routing goods to Ayolas normally clear them at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU) near Asunción, which moved about 23,158 tonnes of cargo in 2025, then truck the final roughly 300 km on national route PY01. Guaraní International Airport (AGT) at Minga Guazú is the practical alternative for consignments arriving via the Brazil–Argentina triple frontier, where re-exports and electronics dominate. Customs clearance in Paraguay is handled by the Dirección Nacional de Aduanas, so import formalities take place at the arrival airport, not in Ayolas. No dedicated cargo terminal or freighter capability at AYO is confirmed.
