ASU Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional Silvio Pettirossi) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Paraguay's beef industry — among the largest exporters in South America — leans on Aeropuerto Internacional Silvio Pettirossi (ASU) for its time-critical air shipments, alongside pharmaceutical and electronics imports. Sitting in Luque about 12 km from Asunción, ASU is the country's principal international airport and primary air-customs point, overseen by the civil-aviation authority DINAC. LATAM Cargo and Avianca Cargo anchor the freight operation, with freighter links connecting Asunción to Miami and onward across North America. For bulk commodities, landlocked Paraguay still relies on the Paraná–Paraguay waterway (the Hidrovía) and its river ports, while ASU carries the high-value, urgent flows. On-airport warehousing and customs clearance streamline handling for forwarders. In March 2026 the airport marked its 46th anniversary and announced plans for a new cargo terminal alongside a broad modernisation of its buildings. Road connections tie Luque into Asunción and the corridors toward Brazil and Argentina. For any shipment in or out of Paraguay by air, ASU is the default point of entry.
