AGT Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional Guaraní) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Where Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina meet, Aeropuerto Internacional Guaraní (AGT) plays a role few South American airports do: a purpose-built cargo field rather than a passenger showpiece. Located in Minga Guazú about 22 km from Ciudad del Este, it dedicates Terminal B entirely to freight, with a large warehouse and modern handling equipment. The airport found its vocation importing electronics and consumer goods from Asia and North America to supply Ciudad del Este's free-trade zone. From there, much of the cargo is re-exported across the tri-border market toward Foz do Iguaçu and Puerto Iguazú. On-site customs brokerage, warehousing and inspection keep shipments moving. In 2024 the airport handled about 11,409 tonnes of cargo, up 30 percent year on year; from 1 January 2026 the operator raised general freight charges by 5.9 percent. The Friendship Bridge links Ciudad del Este directly to Brazil, tying air and road flows tightly together. For forwarders handling Asian imports or re-export trade, AGT is Paraguay's decisive airport.
