PSR Airport (Abruzzo Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Abruzzo Airport (PSR/LIBP) near Pescara is the clearest current example of an Italian airport trying to convert passenger momentum into freight business. Traffic reached 1,114,691 passengers in 2025, up 31.5 percent on 2024 — the strongest growth of any Italian commercial airport — while cargo still moves only as belly capacity on those passenger flights. Operator SAGA is pursuing an interregional logistics role for the site, and a scheduled Poste Italiane freight flight has been discussed for 2026, which would be the first pure cargo service in the Abruzzo region; the start of operations is not yet confirmed. Until then, exporters along the Adriatic corridor rely on Rome Fiumicino (FCO, roughly 200 km west via the A25) and Ancona Falconara (AOI, about 130 km north along the A14). The port of Ortona, some 25 km south, offers a sea freight option for less time-critical consignments and makes multimodal planning worthwhile. Air cargo customs clearance is not documented as a standalone service at PSR and is normally handled at the larger stations named above.
