YXX Airport (Abbotsford International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

WestJet Cargo, ground handler Menzies Aviation and customs specialist Pacific Customs Brokers form the freight backbone of Abbotsford International Airport (IATA: YXX, ICAO: CYXX), British Columbia's second Lower Mainland airport after Vancouver, which set a record of 1,275,484 passengers in 2023. The field lies just four kilometres from the Sumas/Huntingdon crossing into Washington State, with Trans-Canada Highway 1 running straight into Metro Vancouver's port and warehousing belt. A dedicated cargo building handles general freight, express consignments, Fraser Valley perishables and oversized shipments. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) clears customs on site, while Pacific Customs Brokers operates a roughly 5,000 sq ft (465 m²) brokerage facility at the airport. An ongoing apron and taxiway project is adding parking capacity for freighter aircraft. Management targets four million annual passengers, $5m in net operating income and 3,000 direct jobs by 2030. Vancouver (YVR) remains the intercontinental option, with Bellingham (BLI) the nearest US-side alternative.
