Poste Air Cargo S.r.l. is the airline of the Italian postal group Poste Italiane and is based in Rome (Viale Europa 190, operating office Via della Chimica 8). The company holds its own Italian air operator certificate issued by ENAC (IT.AOC.0021) and is an IATA member. It was founded on 29 October 1981 as Mistral Air; Poste Italiane acquired the company in 2002, and in 2019 it was renamed Poste Air Cargo and refocused on cargo and mail transport. The business model covers three areas: mail and parcel transport for the group, scheduled full-freighter services, and charter and ACMI operations for third parties. In addition, the carrier offers line maintenance for Boeing 737-400 and 737-800 aircraft at Rome Fiumicino and runs its own flight school (ATO). Road feeders between customer warehouses and airports are provided by the Poste Italiane group. According to the carrier, the fleet consists of Boeing 737-400SF and Boeing 737-800BCF aircraft; the published unit count has deliberately not been adopted here because an independent second source is missing. The operating base is Rome Fiumicino, while the overnight hub-and-spoke mail network runs via Brescia-Montichiari. Domestically, the carrier permanently serves Fiumicino, Catania, Palermo, Cagliari, Lamezia Terme, Bari, Olbia and Brescia; Milan Malpensa serves as a gateway. Charter destinations named by the carrier range from Malta via Algiers and Casablanca to Tel Aviv. Codes: IATA M4, ICAO MSA, callsign MISTRAL WINGS.
