China Southern Cargo is the freight arm of China's China Southern group and appears to forwarders as 南方航空物流股份有限公司 (China Southern Air Logistics Company Limited, "南航物流"). The company was founded in June 2018 and has since consolidated the logistics business of China Southern Air Holding Company. It is the commercial and handling entity; the freighters are operated under the separate airline China Southern Airlines Cargo Co., Ltd., which also holds the traffic rights for scheduled all-cargo services to the United States. At China Southern Cargo, the party that sells the shipment and the party that flies it are therefore not the same legal entity — which matters to forwarders in liability and contractual questions. According to its own statements, China Southern Cargo operates 19 Boeing 777F freighters (as of July 2025) and runs more than 80 scheduled international freighter flights per week. Added to this is the belly capacity of the China Southern Airlines passenger fleet, which mainly densifies the offering within China and across Asia. The route network rests on the hubs Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the Pearl River Delta and Shanghai Pudong; freighter rotations run from there to North America (Anchorage, Chicago, Los Angeles) and Europe (Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London Stansted). On 4 July 2025 the company opened Guangzhou–Auckland–Sydney, its first freighter service with fifth freedom rights. On the ground, China Southern Cargo runs 16 of its own cargo terminals in 13 Chinese cities, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing and Urumqi, with a combined warehouse area of more than 300,000 square metres and a handling capacity of over 2.3 million tonnes per year. The product range is structured into CZ Speed, CZ Special (outsize, dangerous goods, live animals, perishables, pharma, valuables, vehicles), CZ Exclusive (key accounts, charter, mail), CZ Standard, CZ Transfer and CZ Courier. Bookings are made under the IATA designator CZ. The ICAO code and the AWB prefix could not be confirmed beyond doubt from primary sources and are deliberately not shown here.
