A Passar API token is the digital access key that lets customs software communicate automatically with Passar, the BAZG goods-traffic system in Switzerland. Technically it is a JSON Web Token (JWT) that replaces the certificates formerly used in the B2B channel; during a transition phase certificates remain valid for legacy systems. Forwarders, hauliers and customs agents obtain the token after one-time onboarding in the BAZG ePortal under "API self-service" and store it in their clearance software so that goods declarations and transport declarations are transmitted system-to-system to Passar. Distinguish it from the ePortal login (user sign-in via CH-LOGIN) and from the Passar API endpoint (the technical target address); the token instead proves the identity and authorisation of the requesting system.
