The BAZG (Federal Office for Customs and Border Security) is Switzerland's central customs and border authority. It was created on 1 January 2022 from the former Federal Customs Administration (EZV) and the Border Guard, and belongs to the Federal Department of Finance. The BAZG levies customs duties, import VAT and other charges, monitors cross-border goods traffic, enforces trade restrictions and sanctions, and carries out border-security tasks. For companies it is the authoritative body for import, export and transit: it operates the digital goods traffic system Passar, the web application Declar, the Activ App and the ePortal, and through the DaziT programme is driving the full digitalisation of customs clearance. Forwarders, importers and hauliers register in the BAZG ePortal and select the appropriate business-partner roles. Not to be confused with the EZV: that is the former name of the same authority until the end of 2021. As of June 2026.
