"BAZG customs app" refers to the official smartphone apps of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) used to declare goods digitally when importing into or exporting from Switzerland. For private individuals and travellers there is QuickZoll: it lets users declare goods bought abroad themselves without prior registration and pay any import charges (VAT, customs duty) directly by TWINT or credit card; the border can then be crossed around the clock at any crossing point. For commercial goods there is the Activ app: it simplifies and speeds up the export and transit process and is aimed at transport companies and drivers – in the transport process with the Passar goods traffic system it is used, among other things, to activate the goods declaration at the border. Distinction for professionals (forwarders, hauliers, customs agents): the apps do not replace the professional declaration and business systems – the actual customs processing runs via Passar, Declar or (still) e-dec, with access through the BAZG ePortal. QuickZoll is explicitly not intended for commercial consignments; vehicles, weapons and live animals cannot be declared with it.
