Saint Kitts and Nevis (ISO code: KN) lies in the Eastern Caribbean and belongs to the Lesser Antilles, north of Antigua and south of Puerto Rico. It is a federal parliamentary democracy and a member of the Commonwealth, CARICOM and the OECS. The climate is tropical with a pronounced rainy and hurricane season from June to November. The economy rests on tourism, financial services, light manufacturing and agriculture, and the islands depend heavily on imports for consumer goods, fuel and industrial products while exporting agricultural goods, beverages and services. Logistically the country is served by Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport (SKB) and Vance W. Amory International Airport (NEV), by the Bird Rock Deep Water Port for cargo and by Port Zante for cruise traffic. The currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (XCD), pegged to the US dollar at 2.70.
