About This Seaport
Four terminals, two Panamax grain berths and a steelworks quay 365 river-kilometres above Buenos Aires define Villa Constitución, an Argentine river port on the Paraná below Rosario. The terminals handle grain and by-products, other dry bulk, steel products and small craft, with soybeans among the leading export cargoes. Servicios Portuarios SA runs the grain elevator, while steelmaker Acindar operates its own berths at river kilometre 364/365 — one for iron-ore discharge, served by a gantry crane rated around 450 tonnes per hour, and one for finished steel taking vessels up to 199.5 metres LOA. The port draws on the northern Pampas grain belt through road and rail links. It is a bulk and industrial gateway rather than a container terminal. Boxed cargo is better routed through the Up-River ports around Rosario and San Lorenzo.
