Set in Cameroon's Far North, a Sahelian cotton belt near the Mandara mountains, Salak Airport (MVR) serves the city of Maroua. Camair-Co operates domestic flights here, supplemented by humanitarian services into a border region affected by security problems. Air cargo is negligible; regional goods move by road via Garoua and the main cargo airport at Douala (DLA). The semi-arid setting shapes the local economy around cotton and livestock.
