OSL Airport (Oslo Airport, Gardermoen) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Salmon sets the rhythm at Oslo Gardermoen (IATA: OSL, ICAO: ENGM), Norway's dominant cargo airport, which handled 170,343 tonnes of freight in 2025 — up around eleven percent year on year. Seafood is the country's second-largest export after oil and gas, and roughly 650 tonnes of it leave Norway by air every day, most of it through this airport. Freighter activity reflects that: Cargolux, Silk Way West and Atlas Air call here alongside integrators DHL and UPS Airlines, supplemented by charters serving fish exports to Asia and the Gulf. Handling is provided among others by the Oslo Seafood & Cargo Center (OSCC), whose terminal sits airside next to the freighter stands, and by Menzies Aviation, which took over Spirit's Gardermoen operation in 2025. A dedicated cargo and logistics zone is planned on the west side of the field, purpose-built for freighter operations and temperature-controlled handling. On the passenger side the airport, opened in 1998 to replace Fornebu, serves around 29 million travellers a year and is the home base of Norwegian and a key SAS station. Ground access is comprehensive: the E6 and E16 motorways pass the site, a rail station sits beneath the terminal, and the Flytoget express reaches central Oslo, some 50 kilometres south, in 19 minutes. Part of Norway's volume still trucks to the continental hubs in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Copenhagen in refrigerated trailers, so forwarders should price that road feeder option into any capacity plan.
