Norwich (IATA: NWI, ICAO: EGSH) lives off the North Sea: helicopters to the oil and gas platforms off the East Anglian coast – flown by operators such as Bristow and Babcock – are as much part of daily business as the KLM Cityhopper feeder to Amsterdam-Schiphol, which connects Norfolk to a global network. Add holiday flights and a significant maintenance site: KLM UK Engineering overhauls airliners on the premises. On the freight side, NWI specialises in the offshore energy sector – spare parts and equipment for platform supply – complemented by belly cargo on scheduled flights. Larger general cargo shipments are routed via London Stansted (STN, approx. 150 km).
