More than 1.1 million passengers passed through La Paz in 2023, placing LAP among Mexico's 25 busiest airports. Owned and operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, it links the Baja California Sur capital to the mainland via Volaris, VivaAerobus, Aeroméxico and Alaska Airlines. The traffic is overwhelmingly passenger-driven; freight travels as belly cargo and through courier operators rather than dedicated freighters. Heavy or time-critical air cargo for the peninsula is typically consolidated on the mainland, for example at Guadalajara (GDL). A local note: seafood and tourism supplies pair LAP belly capacity with the ferry link across the Gulf of California.
