LIS Airport (Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Roughly 198,000 tonnes of cargo passed through Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS/LPPT) in 2025, close to 29 percent above the 2019 level and by far the largest air freight volume in Portugal. Freight operations are concentrated in Terminal 6, which offers more than 10,000 square metres of warehouse space along with customs clearance and handling facilities. Portway and Groundforce are among the handling agents working there. A large share of the tonnage travels as belly cargo aboard TAP Air Portugal's long-haul services to Brazil, West Africa and North America, complemented by integrator express traffic; a substantial scheduled freighter operation, by contrast, does not exist. Typical commodity flows include pharmaceuticals, temperature-controlled consignments, perishables and e-commerce parcels. Lisbon forms an EU external border towards Brazil and Africa, so imports from those regions are cleared at the terminal. The A1 and A5 motorways, together with the Port of Lisbon and the deep-water port of Sines, allow air and ocean freight to be combined. Shippers needing more capacity or freighter departures typically switch to Porto (OPO, around 310 km by road) or Madrid-Barajas (MAD, roughly 630 km).
