TAP Air Cargo is the cargo division of the Portuguese airline TAP - Transportes Aéreos Portugueses, S.A. and not a separate company: the operating licence and the air operator certificate are held by TAP itself. The Portuguese civil aviation authority ANAC lists TAP's operating licence as valid, most recently through Despacho No. 779/2026 of 23 January 2026. The business model is pure belly cargo. TAP Air Cargo states on its own website that cargo and mail are carried on passenger aircraft; the company does not operate freighters of its own. Additional capacity comes from partner airlines - both the TAP Freighters product and the GRU Connect partnership announced in October 2025, which adds three further connections to São Paulo, rest on that arrangement. The fleet whose lower decks carry the freight consists exclusively of Airbus and Embraer types: Airbus A330-900neo and A330-200 on long haul, A321-200LR, A321-200neo, A320-200neo, A321-200, A320-200 and A319-100 on short and medium haul, plus Embraer 190 and 195 under the TAP Express brand. The hub is Lisbon Humberto Delgado (LIS). From there the network focuses on Brazil, West Africa, North America and European feeder traffic. What matters for forwarders: the IATA designator is TP, the ICAO code is TAP and the AWB prefix is 047, so air waybills begin with 047. Booking, quoting and shipment tracking run through tapcargo.com. The product portfolio covers general cargo, pharma, temperature-controlled consignments, perishables, dangerous goods, valuables, live animals as well as mail and e-commerce. TAP holds IOSA certification and the IATA environmental certification IEnvA; since June 2026 TAP Air Cargo has been a member of Pharma.Aero.
