No cargo terminal, no freighters, not even belly capacity worth mentioning – Lanyu Airport (IATA: KYD, ICAO: RCLY) on Orchid Island handles people, not pallets. Daily Air operates the only scheduled service, flying 19-seat Dornier 228s several times a day across open Pacific water to Taitung; typhoons regularly suspend operations for days. Everything the island's roughly 5,000 residents consume – fuel, building materials, retail goods – arrives by supply vessel from Fugang harbour near Taitung. Forwarders should treat Taiwan Taoyuan (TPE) or Kaohsiung as the air gateway and plan the final leg by sea. The island itself is known for the indigenous Tao culture and its seasonal flying-fish catch.
