Airport Gangshan Air Force Base – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

A flight academy, not a freight gateway: Gangshan Air Force Base (ICAO RCAY) in northern Kaohsiung is used exclusively by Taiwan's military and hosts the Republic of China Air Force Academy. The base handles no civilian passenger or cargo traffic, carries no IATA code and offers no customs clearance. Forwarders should read this entry as a map reference only — shipments for the Gangshan district and the industrial zones of northern Kaohsiung are processed at Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) some 25 kilometres south, which handled around 53,400 tonnes of air freight in 2025, roughly a quarter more than the year before. Intercontinental main legs continue to consolidate at Taoyuan (TPE) in the north of the island, reached via National Freeway 1 and the high-speed rail line. For heavy or high-volume consignments the Port of Kaohsiung, Taiwan's largest container port, is the obvious multimodal alternative just a few kilometres away. Kaohsiung airport itself entered a multi-year redevelopment in 2025, with the existing cargo facility staying in service for the time being.
