What flies out of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo (ZIH/MMZH) is mostly holiday luggage rather than freight: the Guerrero coastal airport lives on resort traffic to Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. It is operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), whose largest shareholder has been VINCI Airports since December 2022, and it handled 674,660 passengers in 2024, with 2025 figures reported between roughly 727,000 and 734,000. Runway 09/27 provides 2,500 metres. International feeder services from the United States and Canada, American Airlines among them, mean customs and border facilities are in place, but no dedicated cargo terminal or freighter operation is documented and no tonnage is published separately for ZIH. In practice air freight travels as belly cargo on tourist flights. Larger or time-critical consignments for Guerrero are routed through Mexico City (MEX), the country's cargo hub, with Acapulco (ACA) the nearest alternative on the same coast.
